The booklet is highly detailed with information and tasks throughout for students to understand the steps to take to write a Time Plan. The booklet provides an example task, this task shows students one method of writing a time plan in a more approachable way. Students are provided with x3 High Skill level dishes. These dishes require the students to break down the methods and write them in the form of a Time Plan. A template and helpful tips will support students along the way. How will this be helpful to students? This resources has been tried and tested with both year 9 and year 10 students studying GCSE Food. It has been an invaluable resource, as it allows students to navigate through the workbook, completing the tasks, preparing them for what’s to come when writing their Time Plan in their final NEA 2 write up. Students liked knowing that there was extra support in completing the tasks. This allowed them more time understanding and writing a Time Plan, giving them time to ask valuable questions to the teacher and correct errors - a journey necessary before the final NEA 2 write up in year 11! This double sided worksheet with answers and handout, is suitable for GCSE students. It has been designed as a cover lesson for the OCR DT exam board. This resource has been successfully delivered to year 8 and 9 student’s too. The tasks relate to: Analysing an Existing Product and Materials and Components. Task 1: Students to complete the sentences using the missing words listed on the sheet. The sentences reveal a list of factors a designer considers when analysing an existing product. Task 2 & 3: Students are presented with three design problems to solve. Task 4: Analysing a woman’s handbag reflecting upon four key factors: Components/ structural integrity, material, ergonomic considerations and designer inspiration. Part B tasks students to state a design problem with the bag and sketch/explain a design solution. This resource is tried and tested with great feedback. Answers are provided throughout which encourage self-marking during a cover lesson. Cover teacher is happy - as all tasks are clear (with an additional help sheet) and answers. This resource has been designed to help GCSE Food students to answer a long answer question, in preparation for their written exam. It is a total of x8 sides of A4. This resource is a great learning aid throughout the revision period and is suitable for all exam boards studying food. **What are the students be tasked with - ** Students are introduced to the question, tasking them to - analyse and evaluate a student’s lunchbox against Healthy Eating Guidelines - this question has been broken down, highlighting the key words students need to consider when answering their own question. Students will then write their own answer to the question. Using the marking criteria and mark scheme students will self mark their own answer. Students have been provided with 2 model answers. The first, a low ability answer (awarded 3 marks) and the second, a higher ability answer (12 marks) - they will then read the answers and mark using the marking criteria and mark scheme. They will then provide a mark for each and a comment. Students are then presented with the model answers, this time showing them fully marked and comments to show improvements. (this time marked by a teacher) Students find this resource really beneficial, as they can read a model answer of high quality and one with lower marks. They can see where they can pick up marks throughout an answer and the importance of including maximum subject knowledge and the correct use of grammar and spelling.
